About Crickle

Origin of Crickle and the journey to launch.

Crickle was invented in Oxford by Shelley Couper, a word-game enthusiast. The catalyst was a long haul flight and a great book finished by Hong Kong with nothing much to do between there and London. The obvious answer was the game consul but, alas, it lacked a decent word game. A day later there was to be an upside to jet lag however: waking with the key components of a great word game in mind. Crickle is that game. It is shared with the world to solve a modern problem – the need for distracting entertainment when travelling. Crickle is now available as a downloadable app for play on smartphones. Crickle Breeze can be played on PCs and Macs at Miniclip.com from 6 February.

The Oxford team.

Chief Advocate and CEO of Crickle Ltd, Shelley Couper has managed the development of digital products and portals for a variety of brands and organisations including Oxford University Press and City & Guilds.

The Birmingham team.

Game programming was completed by Sync Interactive, a Birmingham based digital consultancy firm. Based at Faraday wharf in the Birmingham Science Park, Sync Interactive are a full service mobile agency with the BBC, Channel 4, peugeot, NHS and Uniliver among their clients. In 2015 Sync won the RAR+ best Mobile Agency Award.
